Who is eligible for a PERFORMmusic license

The PERFORMmusic Facilities License provides churches and ministries that maintain physical premises within the US and its territories to perform live music and play prerecorded music throughout their facilities, including satellite campuses.

To be eligible, the church must be a 501(c) organization whose primary activity is religious in nature. The following are entities that are not eligible for CCS Performance Licenses.

  • For-profit organizations
  • Concert halls or promoters
  • Assisted living facilities
  • Groups or individual traveling ministries
  • A non-profit organization whose primary activity is non-religious.
  • Stand-alone fitness, dance, or art studios.
  • Stand-alone retail stores, bookstores (not on church premises)
  • Stand-alone retail coffee shops, even if sponsored by the church
  • Independent religious schools (K-12)
  • Colleges, Universities, and Seminaries
  • Terrestrial Radio stations
  • Internet radio stations

If your entity does not qualify for the CCS Licenses and wishes to perform or stream music, you must obtain licenses directly from the U.S. Performance Rights Organizations, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC.
