Why a Church Performance license

You need a church performance license if your church plays or performs copyrighted music outside of your religious services. The religious service exemption in US copyright law allows churches and ministries to perform copyrighted music only during religious services without paying royalties. The exemption does not cover any music played or performed outside of worship services.
